Description

PROTECT-A AR 025 ULTRA MEMBRANE is an acrylic resin based, U.V. resistant, elastic waterproofing material.

Area of Use

  • Roofs that have mineral based isolations.
  • Terraces.
  • Concrete surfaces.

Product Features and Advantages

  • Seamless coating.
  • Excellent weather resistance.
  • Bridges hairline fractures.
  • Waterproof.
  • UV resistant.
  • Algae & Fungus resistant.
  • Easy to apply.
  • Highly elastic.

Application Instructions

  • The entire surface area should be clean, dry, sound, and free from dirt, dust, grease, oils, waxes, mildew and any other surface contaminants that may adversely affect the performance of this coating material.
  • Remove any loose flakes, chalked areas, cracked or peeling paint from previously painted surfaces by hand scraping, sanding wire brushing and/or power tool cleaning, such as pressure washing or sandblasting. For exterior surfaces, pressure wash the entire surface area using a unit with a minimum of 1500 – 2000 psi of water pressure.
  • For metal application surfaces, remove any loose rust, mill scale, or white rust deposits from the metal surface using the same methods that are mentioned above.
  • Repair/replace any damaged and/or delaminated surface areas.
  • Sand all rough edges and old paint (where applicable) on the surface area.
  • Sand all glossy surfaces to effectively dull the glossy finish.
  • Prime all surface areas with a mixture of A-PROTECT AR 025 LIQUID MEMBRANE and water at a ratio of 3/10.
  • Stir thoroughly in a circular motion before and during application.
  • For best results, two (2) coats must be applied allowing a minimum of 4 – 6 hours to dry between each coat.
  • On most roof surfaces, it may be necessary to cool down the hot roof by lightly misting/spraying the roof with cool water. This will prevent the extreme quick drying of the finished product, and the possibility of the coat to burn.
  • Do not apply on significantly/visibly wet surfaces. This roof coating may only be applied to slightly damp roof surfaces, and will not adhere to surfaces that are over saturated with water.
  • When applying by roller, apply crisscross motion.
  • When applying by airless spray equipment, use a unit capable of pumping two (2) gallons per minute, with a 0.021” – 0.030” fluid spray tip.
  • During the spray application, it is recommended to back roll the surface area to ensure proper adhesion and an even coat application.
  • Apply when surface and ambient temperatures are above +5 ̊C and below +35 ̊C.

Application Notes

  • In the coating process over insulation, care should be taken not to damage the insulation material with mechanical effects.
  • The product should be used within the pot life after mixing. Products that have reached the end of their pot life should never be used during application.
  • During the application, no foreign materials should be added to the mixture other than the components of the product.
  • It should not be applied on uneven surfaces.
  • The strength and bearing of old surfaces should be checked before application.
  • During and after the application, the surface should be protected from air currents and contact with water.
  • It should not be applied on substrates that are at risk of frost, frozen or that were in contact with melting ice within the past 24 hours.
  • Care should be taken not to expose the material to direct sunlight in hot weather.
  • Application should not be done on hot surfaces exposed to excessive winds or direct sunlight, if there is a requirement to apply in these environments, the environment and the surface should be made ready for application before starting.
  • It should not be applied in rainy weather.
  • the applied surface should be protected from rain for 24 hours.
  • Surface and Ambient Temperature The surface and ambient temperature should be between
    +5 ° C and +35 ° C during application.
